With the ever-increasing pressures of climate change, intensive land management and development it is important to ensure that biodiversity hotspots are connected and safeguarded – the development of a natural network of wildlife corridors is vital.
Natural Networks, a European Regional Development Fund partnership between Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Worcestershire County Council, has already created and improved 30 hectares of habitat and work is planned on another 100 hectares.
The project team works with landowners and communities across the county to restore habitats for wildlife – from watercourse and woodland restoration to wildflower meadow and pollinator patch creation.
