Are you passionate about nature and looking to make a real impact on Yorkshire’s wild spaces? Join one of the UK’s fastest-growing nature conservation charities as a Project Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our North Project team and to undertake landscape and catchment-scale habitat restoration and creation across Yorkshire. As Project Officer you will primarily support delivery of river restoration projects in the Foss and Esk catchments with the opportunity to support other projects within the team.
You will lead and coordinate the delivery of river restoration work on the Esk and Foss catchments. In addition to managing delegated projects and budgets, you will collaborate closely with partners to develop new initiatives and secure funding, while maintaining strong relationships with funders and stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include recruiting and supporting volunteers, coordinating surveys and delivering on-the-ground interventions in partnership with landowners and contractors. Ensuring timely reporting, you will assist with record keeping of interventions and surveys with some input into the project’s GIS mapping. You will also help organise and support public engagement events and activities to raise awareness of the project's value.
You’ll need excellent knowledge of river and wetland habitats and species, and enjoy undertaking regular, hands-on physical work. Self-motivated and well-organised, you’ll be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and confident in engaging with stakeholders, volunteers, and contractors.
