Engaging Siemens employees with nature and understanding the benefits.
Time spent in wildlife rich environments boosts health and wellbeing. Every year, hundreds of Siemens employees spend time with their local Wildlife Trust, getting involved in a range of activities to improve their local natural spaces. These Wild Work Days - as we call them – involve employees undertaking physical tasks, learning new skills, connecting with team-mates in a new environment and giving something back to their communities. Being outside in nature enables them to take time to think, slow down and reflect.
They return to work feeling happier and healthier; more than 81% reported an improved sense of wellbeing following their time spent with their local Wildlife Trust. Many have gone on to become regular volunteers with their Trust, sustaining the benefits in the long term. Happy, healthy employees are more productive and stay longer with their employer.
Getting to know their local Trust has also enabled many Siemens sites to broaden their relationship for example by improving their work environments for wildlife.
