Let nature help - employee well-being

Let nature help

Explore nature-inspired ways to attract and retain happier, healthier employees

Well-being in crisis – nature can help

Did you know that every three in five employees experience mental health issues at some stage in their career, costing the UK economy £30 billion a year? Employers obviously have an important role to play in helping improve the well-being of their employees and The Wildlife Trusts can offer a helping hand.

Research shows that individuals spending time in nature report improved well-being, which is why The Wildlife Trusts have designed campaigns and activities which inspire people to embrace nature and the wellbeing benefits that this brings.

For example, participants of our annual nature engagement campaign, 30 Days Wild, feel happier and healthier even two months after taking part!

"the number of people reporting their health as excellent increased by over 30%.”

Invite some ‘Wild Wellbeing’ into your workplace

From nature-challenges to practical nature-based guides to greening office grounds and organising team conservation days – we can bring nature and its benefits closer to your employees.

Calendar of nature challenges

We host a variety of national events as well as our annual seasonal nature challenges which inspire employees to go 'Wild About Gardens' in the spring, do something ‘wild’ every day throughout June, get active while fundraising in our autumn Big Wild Walk and appreciate the joy of winter nature with 12 Days Wild.

Campaigns and taking action

The Wildlife Trusts are the only charities for nature established across the UK and Crown Dependencies, working to bring wildlife back, and empowering people to take meaningful action for nature and to create an inclusive society where nature matters.  We campaign for a wilder future, where everyone can benefit from and enjoy wildlife near them – from providing simple ideas for ways in which people can help nature and climate, to contributing to research and evidence through citizen science.

Events

We invite your colleagues to learn about climate change, endangered species and precious habitats as well as how nature can support societal health and wellbeing.  Wildlife Trusts host indoor, outdoor and online events up and down the country and we have a regular monthly panellist series called Wild LIVE where you can ask your questions to Wildlife Trust experts and celebrity guests live on the night.

Greening work grounds

Employees who are able to view and access natural spaces are more productive. Stress levels also fall after spending five minutes in a natural green space. We can work with businesses to co-create wildlife havens in work grounds which inspire and engage employees during their breaks and impress clients. The Wildlife Trusts are calling for 30% of UK land to be protected and connected for nature’s recovery by 2030, so let us help you do your bit on your premises!

Wild Work Days (organised team conservation)

Every year, thousands of business employees join us at local nature reserves for a range of physical conservation activities whilst connecting with colleagues.  Employees return to work feeling happier, healthier and more positive; more than 80% have reported improved wellbeing after spending just one day!

Discuss availability and pricing with your local Wildlife Trust or email us to enquire about multi-Trust coordination for a minimum of 200 employees.

"We understand the value of investing in our employees’ wellbeing and working with The Wildlife Trusts has been the perfect way to do this while contributing to restoring our natural world."
Carl Ennis, CEO, Siemens UK

Bespoke talks and guides

We build wellbeing programmes, activities and materials around the ‘five ways to wellbeing’, evidence-based ways of improving mental wellbeing.  We can provide educational nature and/ wellbeing talks and have developed practical guides to help employees and/ communities engage with wildlife in their daily lives.

At the heart of everything we do is our mission to help nature flourish in the UK and to empower people to take action to bring our wildlife back and restore natural processes.

The Wildlife Trusts work with businesses right across the UK to better engage employees with nature for the wellbeing benefits that this brings.
