Discover the Rothbury Estate
The wild heart of Northumberland
Rolling moors, ancient woods and winding rivers. The Rothbury Estate is a landscape of rare beauty and deep history. Stretching across 3,800 hectares, it’s home to red squirrels, curlews and skylarks, and to communities who’ve cared for it for generations.
Here, traces of the past lie all around. From prehistoric rock carvings to the rugged Simonside Hills. Together with local people, we’re working to shape a future where nature and community thrive side by side.
The Wildlife Trusts, in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust, are working to secure the Rothbury Estate for nature and people.
Sir David Attenborough, now in his hundredth year, has stepped forward to champion the Rothbury Estate appeal, lending his voice to help protect this extraordinary landscape for wildlife and people.
We mustn't lose this once-in-a-generation opportunity.
We will restore habitats and breathe new life into its wildlife, working hand in hand with the local community. Together, we can secure the Rothbury Estate by raising £30 million by September 2026.
With the communities who live and work here, we will create a place where people and nature can thrive side by side. The Wildlife Trusts and Northumberland Wildlife Trust have already secured part of the estate, the Simonside Hills.
