The Wildlife Trusts nationally and Northumberland Wildlife Trust have an opportunity to secure the future of the historic Rothbury Estate in Northumberland. Covering over 3,800 hectares in the heart of Northumberland, it is a breathtaking place, with sweeping landscapes and starlit skies.
We are hugely grateful to those who have given a major gift in support of our work at The Rothbury Estate, helping us to seize this extraordinary opportunity to restore nature at a scale rarely possible in England.
Thank you to our funders
Established in 1961, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is one of the largest independent grant funders in the UK. Esmée Fairbairn Foundation supports charities to improve the natural world, secure a fairer future and strengthen bonds between communities in the UK.
Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has supported The Wildlife Trusts to protect and preserve wildlife on land and at sea for many years.
Funding will support our work with partners for nature’s recovery both on The Rothbury Estate and in the surrounding areas.
The Monday Charitable Trust is a grantmaking foundation which aims to improve life chances of disadvantaged and often marginalised groups in the United Kingdom, while providing support to charities tackling environmental crises.
Its funding has provided a significant boost in our efforts to secure the future of The Rothbury Estate and enable people and nature to thrive side-by-side.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund, formerly known as the Heritage Lottery Fund, is the largest dedicated funder of heritage in the UK.
Since its creation, The Wildlife Trusts have worked closely with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Together we have connected people to nature and each other, saved precious wildlife-rich places, created new woodlands, wetlands and meadows and protected rare and endangered species and habitats.
Thanks to National Lottery players, funding will support us to lay the foundations for the future of the Rothbury Estate in Northumberland, enabling us to plan how the working landscape of the Rothbury Estate can play a critical role in nature’s recovery and benefit the people who live and work there.
Established in 1982, The Northwick Trust is a charitable trust that supports general charitable purposes, with a focus on conservation and protecting the natural environment.
Funding is supporting us to acquire the breathtaking Rothbury Estate for nature and for people.
Thank you to those who have given a major gift
