Change needs all of us: Race Equality Week

Change needs all of us: Race Equality Week

Naftal Zinyemba, EDI Officer, explains what Race Equality Week is, and why it matters to The Wildlife Trusts

Race Equality Week is a UK campaign that addresses barriers to race equality in the workplace. The campaign invites organisations and individuals to reflect on race equality and consider how we can act meaningfully to address racial inequality.

Race Equality Week is a call to action, reminding us that race equality should be an ongoing, collective effort.

The theme of Race Equality Week 2026 is 'Change Needs All Of Us'. With this in mind, we encourage everyone to focus on how they can be an effective ally. We can turn listening and discussion into meaningful action and work together to tackle and address racial inequalities.

Over the last year at The Wildlife Trusts, we have been delivering our Race Equity Action Plan as part of our journey to becoming an anti-racist movement.

Through this action plan, we have provided training on anti-racism, microaggressions, allyship, and implicit bias. Alongside working to create an anti-racist culture at the Wildlife Trusts, we have also been looking at recruitment and people's journeys into the sector.

We have attended careers fairs like the Big Bang Fair, run online careers events to give support with entering the sector, and we have more plans to come in the future.

This year, we urge you to support us on our journey to creating an inclusive workplace, working together to create a space were people feel safe and feel like they belong.
