The Wildlife Trusts launch design-your-own winter jumper competition to celebrate the nature of Christmas

Winning design will join the charities’ nature-inspired gifting range

The Wildlife Trusts are inviting creative nature lovers across the UK to take part in their winter jumper design competition. The winning design will feature across The Wildlife Trusts’ online shop in the run up to the festive season.

The competition comes as The Wildlife Trusts unveil their Christmas gift guide for 2025, packed with nature-inspired gifts for all. From soft sustainable cotton apparel to all-new personalised notebooks, mugs and jigsaws, there’s something for everyone.

In an effort to celebrate the natural world across the winter months, the competition urges entrants to let their imaginations run wild. With entries open until 17th November 2025, the winner will receive a jumper and tote bag of their design before it goes on sale to the public in time for the festive season.

Priya Popat, winter jumper design competition judge for The Wildlife Trusts, says: “Whether it's a minimalistic design or bursting with vibrant colours, we’re excited to see how creative folk from across the UK depict their favourite winter wildlife or wintry scene. We’re looking for designs that last the whole winter through – whether that’s to be worn when spending time in nature or admiring wildlife wonders from your sofa. Nothing quite beats cosying up in a warm jumper at wintertime, so what better way to celebrate the joys of the natural world at this time of year?”

The winning design will join other popular apparel and homewares from The Wildlife Trusts found on their online shop. This inspiring range of gifts help to raise funds to further nature restoration efforts across the UK and are made with natural materials, renewable energy and arrive in plastic-free packaging.

One such example, new for 2025, is the chance to gift a donation towards the Rothbury Estate; a place of rare beauty, human history and wonderful wildlife in the heart of Northumberland. The Wildlife Trusts purchased part of the Rothbury Estate in autumn last year, in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust, and have launched a £30 million appeal to secure the entire estate – for nature and the nation.

Offering the chance to create one of England’s largest areas for nature, people and wildlife, gifted donations can help secure the grasslands, moorland and woodlands found on the estate. For example, £39 could secure 50 square metres of Rothbury’s rolling hills and stunning scenery. This precious landscape also features on The Wildlife Trusts’ Christmas greetings ecard range, making your gift extra special.

Further gift ideas can be found in this Christmas 2025 Gift Guide from The Wildlife Trusts.

Those wishing to submit a design to the winter jumper competition should do so by 17th November 2025.
