Let's start the conversation - with a postcard!

You know that nature’s important

And we can make it easier to talk about the important things

Send yourself some joy

You do a lot for nature but sometimes, this busy world makes it hard to remember why.

Take a moment to reflect - how is nature necessary to your life? Then write a message to yourself.  Choose your favourite image, and you will create a postcard we will print and send to you in a few days’ time.

Here’s some real-life messages people have sent to themselves ...

  • "You feel such joy when you hear the birds. Their song reminds you how much noise you can make even when you are very small."
  • "You have such a busy life, but you must remember to take some time to stop. Look around. Take a breath."
  • "Enjoy the picture on this postcard! The world is a beautiful place – you are part of looking after it."

Your postcard will bring you a smile through your letterbox and it will be a tangible reminder* of why nature is necessary to you.

* we know not everyone needs a reminder! But even thinking about nature is good for you so why not - and everyone loves a postcard, right?

Here’s some messages people have sent to others

  • "You know how much I love being outside and watching the bees fly in and out of flowers. The sun’s been shining this week and they’ve been extra busy! I’ve just planted some bee friendly flowers in plant pots on my balcony. Let me know if you want some of my extra seeds to plant some too."
  • "I’ve been walking in the park recently and it’s really made me feel good. I love watching the leaves blow in the breeze. Would you like to join me the next time I go?"

Frequently asked questions about the postcard campaign and how it works.

What's the point of the postcards?

Nature is necessary, for everyone. It’s not something that's “nice to have” but a lot of the time that’s how it seems.  These cards are designed to help people remember why nature is so important to them, and to articulate it – to themselves, to people they know, and to others who care too. You write the messages online. We print and post the cards out a few days later.

This starts with you! Sending a card to yourself is a great way to pause and think about why nature is necessary to you.  Next, you’ll be invited to send a message about nature to someone you know. Then later, you can invite others to join you in playing a part.  You can opt out of this journey at any time.  All postcards are free, but donations are always welcome to help us cover printing and postage.

Have you received a postcard? Here's why

Your friend sent this card to you. They wanted to share their love of nature with you and encourage you to look at nature differently or do something more to help nature with them or in your own area.

What will you do with my details? We will keep a record of where postcards are sent, but we won’t use your details to get in touch with you, or sell them. Please see our privacy policy. If you would like to learn more about the work of The Wildlife Trusts near you, find your local Trust.

Have you received a card inviting you to get involved in something locally?

The person who sent your card is planning to do more for nature in your neighbourhood or community and would love you to be involved too. They paid for the card to be sent to them and it was hand delivered. The Wildlife Trusts can trace cards that were paid for, but we do not have any records of where those cards are sent – you will not be contacted by us. If you have any concerns or questions please contact the team: campaigning@wildlifetrusts.org
