In 2022, China hosted Conference of Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal – also known as COP15. COP15 was a crucial moment in the global fight to reverse the worldwide decline in biodiversity. It was also an important moment in efforts to tackle the climate crisis and make the case for nature-based solutions to climate change.

Global governments are coming together once again for COP27 (or the 27th Conference of the Parties) to discuss climate change and the commitments each country will make to adapt and reduce carbon emissions. A year on from COP26 in Glasgow little progress has been made and time is running out to avoid catastrophic global warming.

The Wildlife Trusts want to see the bold rhetoric and ambitions translated into real action this decade to tackle the twin nature and climate crises.

As global governments come together at COP28, the need to tackle the climate crisis has never been clearer. Yet we cannot tackle the climate emergency without similar ambition to meet the nature crisis head on. Discover why COP28 is so important and what The Wildlife Trusts want to see from the United Nations discussions.
