Big Wild Saturday
We had planned a Big Wild Saturday at Northumberlandia mid-way through 30 Days Wild with lots of health and wellbeing inspired events including yoga, forest bathing, including foraging and nature crafts where you go on a woodland walk, learn about the benefits of 'green' spaces, as well as creating a nature inspired piece of art work! If people want to get involved just follow the link to the full event and the crafting is a sub event to book.

Kent Wildilfe Trust
Dover Big Local
Dover Big Local Home Ed Group, one of Kent Wildlife Trust’s Blue Influencers explored a variety of activities near blue spaces including a litter pick, river scavenger hunt and creating an edible lighthouse inspired by Dover Castle’s Pharos, complete with acrobatic paper red-billed chough to fly around.

The Waterscapes Project
This rain slide was commissioned by a local artist ‘Clare McHugh - Miss Fire’ to bring attention to our functional rain garden at GRH. The rain slide sculpture shows the journey of the water from down pipe to rain garden and the steel wildlife elements (frog, dragonfly etc.) highlight how rain gardens support wildlife.

Wildeye Art and Nature Project
A highlight of the trail is the new Seawatching Station on Marine Drive, one of the best places in England to spot cetaceans. It features Roman Mosaic c.2025, a permanent artwork by Turner Prize-winner Jeremy Deller. Inspired by Scarborough’s Roman heritage and marine biodiversity, the mosaic celebrates local sea life while promoting conservation. Its intentionally fragmented design invites imagination to complete the scene. Depicted creatures include Thor the Walrus, dolphins, minke whales, porpoises, seals, birds, and even a rare little auk. The renovated station also offers free telescopes and wildlife information panels.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
Cinderford Brook
A wildlife mural painted by local artists has popped up in Cinderford, to celebrate the achievements of a project boosting biodiversity, and ‘slowing the flow’ of rainwater in the town.
This new colourful mural was painted by Tom and Laurie Cousins, locals to the Forest of Dean, and features a variety of animals that live in the Cinderford Brook, including a frog, an otter and a kingfisher.

Gosling Sike
These are our nursery volunteers at Gosling Sike in Carlisle who created a hedgehog (we have a thriving little community here). They attend every week.

Wild About Craft classes
‘Wild About Craft’ explores our ten priority wildlife species through different arts and crafts, to connect people who may not directly be interested in nature through nature-themed craft. Each session has started with a short talk about the subject species, covering their ecology and conservation. When possible, we've also all gone out for a walk on the reserve (Magor Marsh). Classes have included 'Air Dry Clay Pink Waxcap' and 'Watercolour Dipper' workshops.

Workshops
We’ve been doing watercolour workshops for over a year with a local artist at our Hauxley and St Nicholas Park sites and they’re a great way to make friends in a creative way and get closer to nature. We've also got photography workshops, creative writing, mindfulness days, nature crafts and loads more.
And we had a lovely art trail at Weetslade Country Park over the Easter holidays created by a local artist on circular mirrored displays set out in a trail around the site.
We made this!
Be inspired by the craft and art from communities around the UK!

Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Hazel Weaving
We made a 'framed hurdle' which consisted of weaving hazel around uprights held in a frame. Looks great, the volunteers loved doing it and the hurdle is now a screen to hid the bins at HQ here in Cornwall.

Artswork
As part of Artswork’s Young Cultural Changemakers programme, young people in Dover co-created a bio-sculpture called 'Tree' with artist Eirinn Hayhow using natural materials such as willow, honeycomb and mycelium.
Supported by Dover Big Local, Kent Wildlife Trust, and local artists, the project celebrated youth voices and their connection to nature.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
Wilder Wight Communities
The session began with brief presentation and discussion around taking action for nature in the community. We then wandered around the adjoining churchyard (manged for nature) for inspiration. We returned to the hall to decorate terracotta pots with nature / growing themes and then went on to plant up the pots with a selection of companion plants benefiting people and nature.
Introducing The Knittern!
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Wilder Wetlands campaign is working to protect these vital habitats. One of the most iconic birds that make wetlands their home is the bittern - and now you can have a bittern of your very own! Sara Booth-Card and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have released a knitting pattern so you can have your very own knittern.
