Wild at Heart Project Assistant

Closing date:
Salary: £17,374.50 pro rata
Contract type: Permanent / Working hours: Part time
Location: Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust, 37 Stafford Road, Sheffield, S2 2SF
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Wild at Heart team.

Wild at Heart is an established programme of activities aimed at improving wellbeing through connecting people to nature. Activities & sessions are delivered at a number of locations across Sheffield & Rotherham.

Being outdoors in nature has proven to have a positive impact on wellbeing & we are looking for someone who enjoys being outdoors, is creative, enthusiastic & is empathetic to the needs of others, in particular older people.

The ideal person will be part of a small team, but also needs to be able to be motivated to work on their own at times. They will help with the planning & delivery of weekly sessions which will involve meeting in a local park or green space, providing nature based craft activities & taking a short walk or stroll round the local area. Visits to other woodlands, nature reserves or places of interest are planned throughout the year.

Sessions currently run Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays & ideally we would like someone to be available across 2 or 3 of those days.

Many of the participants will have been referred to the sessions, so being able to keep them interested & engaged is important. Activities are all nature based so we are looking for someone with an understanding of nature & the environment & as well as how nature benefits wellbeing.

Over the last 18 months we have had to adapt our activities through developing Nature adventures - short nature based videos & activity packs with lots of ideas to try out at home or in the local area. In the short term we plan to continue to do this whilst gradually bringing face to face sessions back on board, subject to COVID 19 restrictions.

If you think you have the skills & experience to bring to this role. We would love to hear from you.
