The response to our August match appeal has been extraordinary. Thanks to supporters like you, we reached our original target of £100,000 in just seven days.  

Inspired by this incredible show of support, a generous donor has now pledged a further £500,000 in match funding, extending the appeal until 30 September 2026.

The Rothbury Estate is still at risk of being sold off and divided, but together we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure it for wildlife, people and future generations. 

And an unprecedented opportunity to double your donation.  

Now, every donation up to £600,000 will be doubled until 30 September, to raise £1.2 million to secure The Rothbury Estate.

The match funding applies to all donations made throughout August and September, including those made via the main appeal page. The main page tracks progress towards our £30 million target to secure The Rothbury Estate and protect this remarkable landscape for nature and people.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters, our original August match funding target of £100,000 was reached in just seven days. Since then, a further £140,000 has been donated and can now also be doubled through this generous gift, significantly increasing the impact of every contribution.

Why The Rothbury Estate matters.

The Rothbury Estate is more than a beautiful place. It's a landscape alive with possibility. A living, breathing refuge for wildlife that is scarcely found today in
Britain at this scale.

It's 3,800 hectares of life-filled river, land and sky. The Rothbury Estate is brimming with potential. And we have one chance to secure it for nature.

Nature recovery has already begun. Thanks to donations and philanthropic loans, The Wildlife Trusts have already purchased part of The Rothbury Estate, which includes the much-loved Simonside Hills and nature restoration work is already underway.

All funds raised - including any funds raised over our target amount of £30 million - will go towards nature’s recovery at The Rothbury Estate. 

In the event we don’t raise enough funds to purchase the entire Estate or we are unable to complete the purchase for any reason, funds raised will go towards nature's recovery in the Simonside Hills and surrounding areas.
