Braunton Burrows in north Devon is England's largest sand-dune system. It was recommended to the SPNR as 'worthy of preservation' particularly for its rare coastal plants. It was de-designated as a National Nature Reserve in 1996 and is leased from the Christie Devon Estates Trust by the Ministry of Defence.
