The Somerset Wildlife Trust has a core staff of 35 people and more than 20,500 members. We aim to promote the conservation of the natural environment for the benefit of wildlife, people and future generations. We are part of a nationwide network of local Wildlife Trusts. We are currently recruiting for a Reserve Assistant to help us achieve and develop the conservation management of our nature reserves in the Mendip area of Somerset.
Mendip Reserve Assistant – full time temporary position (to 31st March 2012)
This post is based primarily at Callow, nr. Cheddar, but will be working on nature reserves across the Mendip Hills.
As a member of the Mendip Hills Living Landscape team you will work closely with other reserve staff in Mendip and others across the county, contributing to achieving our conservation vision in this important area.

Candidates for the post will have at least 2 years’ experience of practical reserves management, working with volunteers, and organising and supervising contracts. Relevant training and qualifications in practical site management are essential.
A working knowledge of current conservation issues and methods, good communication skills and experience of teamwork are essential.
