East Solent Reserves Officer

Salary: Salary £23,895pa; full time 35 hours per week; permanent contract;

Location: Based at Botley, Hampshire

The Reserves Officer will lead on the practical delivery of the Trust’s Living Landscapes work in Langstone & Portsmouth Harbours, which are internationally recognised sites for coastal birds and other wildlife – including one of Hampshire’s premier reserves at Farlington Marshes.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the leading local nature conservation charity. We seek to increase people’s involvement in their local environment and in turn create better conditions for wildlife on land and in the sea.

The Reserves Officer will lead on the practical delivery of the Trust’s Living Landscapes work in Langstone & Portsmouth Harbours, which are internationally recognised sites for coastal birds and other wildlife – including one of Hampshire’s premier reserves at Farlington Marshes. The Officer’s responsibilities also cover the Forest of Bere living Landscapes area in which the Trust’s educational reserve at Swanwick Lakes sits. The suite of sites offers great opportunities for land management for biodiversity and people engagement, due to their locations.

We need a Reserves Officer, physically fit, and qualified in practical skills such as safe use of power tools, herbicides, trailer driving, and livestock management. You should hold a higher level qualification in conservation or ecology, with sound knowledge of wildlife habitats and species. You will also need experience of working with volunteers and the public on nature reserves. A full driving licence is essential.
