Market Weston Fen

One of the finest valley fens in East Anglia

Market Weston Fen is one of the finest valley fens in East Anglia and of international importance for the plant species found here.

There is something for everyone at Market Weston Fen whether a keen wildlife enthusiast or if you just want to get outdoors. There is a public footpath which passes through the fen or you can take the circular way marked trail to explore the rest of the reserve download reserve map here. This trail takes you up on to the higher sandy ground showing what else the reserve has to offer.

Grazing is one way to maintain the rich fen flora and the fen is grazed by cattle. The saw sedge beds area unique feature of Suffolk valley fens and are still mown for thatching.

With over 250 flowering plants, 20 species of butterfly, 200 species of moth Market Weston fen is a wildlife paradise.
