Bolsover becomes Vice President for The Wildlife Trusts

Bill Bolsover will today be appointed as a Vice President of The Wildlife Trusts, joining a team which includes Sir Robert Worcester, Professor David Macdonald and Sir David Attenborough as ambassadors for the conservation organisation.
Bolsover (60), Chairman of Aggregate Industries and former Chief Executive, will be appointed at The Wildlife Trusts’ annual meeting on Wednesday 24 November. He will work to create widespread support for The Wildlife Trusts’ vision for A Living Landscape, particularly within the business arena.
Bill has an excellent track record in business and a real love of nature. He says of his appointment: “The Wildlife Trusts are under recognised for their extraordinary work delivering more conservation on the ground than any other. I am determined to wake up the corporate sector to this and to our vision for A Living Landscape and Living Seas.”
The Wildlife Trusts’ Chairman, Michael Allen, said: “Bill is tremendously supportive of The Wildlife Trusts’ work. He has invested generous amounts of his time to understand what it is we are about. By ensuring others within the business community are more aware of our work they too are able to consider the part they may play in helping us achieve our vision. Bill’s experience will enable him to demonstrate his remarkable leadership skills within the corporate sector.”
Bill added: “The links between business, the countryside and wildlife are responsibilities to be taken seriously. The Wildlife Trusts’ vision for A Living Landscape and Living Seas can become reality with the right injection of funds and expertise from business professionals. I hope my expertise can make a real difference in helping to achieve the vision, for the benefit of future generations.”
Bill Bolsover became Managing Director of Aggregate Industries’ UK and European operations in 2000 before being promoted to Group Chief Executive in 2006. He was appointed Chairman in April this year. Mr Bolsover has three grown-up children and in his spare time enjoys following rugby union.
Bill is a Lt Colonel of the Royal Engineer and Logistic Staff Corps RE(v), a member of the Institution of Royal Engineers, as well as Chairman of the Construction Products Association. He is a board member of the UK Green Building Council, a member of the Worshipful Company of Pavoirs and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Bill is also a Freeman of the City of London, among other notable positions. In 2009 he was awarded with an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Leicester.
