Do you want to be part of the solution: helping the UK to create a Living Landscape and secure Living Seas for future generations to enjoy?
After the Second World War people who cared about nature set up Wildlife Trusts in every corner of the UK to save special places and influence future decisions. Now we have more than 800,000 members – 93,000 hectares of land – and most important of all, we are part of the local community we serve, reflected in part by our 35,000 volunteers.
The 47 Wildlife Trusts come together through a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. RSWT is an energetic and fast-paced operation designed to both serve and lead this great local movement.
RSWT is looking for an experienced and natural coordinator with excellent relationship management skills. The role will focus on the interface between Wildlife Trusts in Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland, and with partner organisations and coalitions operating at UK, EU and international levels.
This role will involve supporting the effective promotion of The Wildlife Trusts and our vision, by developing and managing relations with key decision-makers in UK, EU and international institutions and organisations. You will scope opportunities for funding in close cooperation with statutory and voluntary sector partners in the UK and beyond, and you will manage contacts with European contacts and MEPs in a way which utilises the movements uniquely devolved structure. Acting as an ambassador and spokesman for The Wildlife Trusts, it will be essential for you to understand the key strengths of The Wildlife Trusts’ and how these vary in each part of the UK.
The successful candidate for this new opportunity will be experienced in leading, motivating and empowering others. You will have extensive knowledge of legislative processes and parliamentary procedures, an understanding of UK and European wildlife and environmental legislation along with a broad understanding of the English, UK and ideally European environmental sector. Experience of high level advocacy and fundraising, with a proven track record of working with elected representatives and civil servants, in a pressurized environment will be key.
If you are looking for a challenging role and have the passion and energy to drive change through leading others, we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to work together in the UK towards a better future – you could be part of it.
