Do you want to be part of the solution: helping the UK to create a Living Landsacape and secure Living Seas for future generations to enjoy?
After the Second World War people who cared about nature set up Wildlife Trusts in every corner of the UK to save special places and influence future decisions. Now we have more than 800,000 members – 93,000 hectares of land – and most important of all, we are part of the local community we serve, reflected in part by our 35,000 volunteers.
The 47 Wildlife Trusts come together through a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. RSWT is an energetic and fast-paced operation designed to both serve and lead this great local movement.
RSWT is looking for a Public Affairs Manager to take a lead in developing and managing relationships with key English Governmental decision makers and other priority audiences. These include, relationships with targeted civil servants, ministers and advisors from government departments.
As the relationship manager for Westminster decision makers, you will drive The Wildlife Trusts’ contact with Government, promoting our work and vision in order to influence decisions.
You will also monitor policy and funding developments, and identifying opportunities in England for influencing and positioning, ensuring that Wildlife Trusts’ are alerted to potential opportunities. You will be an ambassador and spokesperson for The Wildlife Trusts.
Our ideal candidate will have substantial experience of working with MPs, Ministers and Civil Servants, and will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to deliver successful advocacy campaigns. With extensive knowledge of the legislative process and parliamentary procedures, you will also have an understanding of UK and European wildlife and environmental legislation. An exceptional communicator, you will have a real flair for influencing and negotiating a range of contacts.
If you are looking for a challenging role and have the passion and energy to drive change through leading others, we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to work together in the UK towards a better future – you could be part of it.
