Northern Devon Nature Improvement Area Woodlands Advisory Officer / Advisory provision

Salary: £19,989 to £22,523 plus 5% pension

Closing date: Friday 31st May 2013

The Northern Devon Nature Improvement Area (NIA) is an exciting and prestigious project, which aims to create a thriving and flourishing landscape, teeming with wildlife and providing a range of socio-economic benefits to landowners and local people. The project is being delivered by the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Partnership, with Devon Wildlife Trust as the lead partner. It is one of only 12 projects nationally, and was selected by Defra through a highly competitive process.

This post will be responsible for leading on the delivery of woodland related outputs for the project, which encompass advice to landowners on woodland creation, management and restoration, allied to the support and promotion of the local woodland economy.

We are seeking the appropriate skills and expertise to help the NIA partnership deliver and develop an innovative and joined-up approach to woodland management. We would also be prepared to consider proposals for secondments and / or provision of these services through contract, as alternatives to a full time member of staff.
