Northern Devon Nature Improvement Area Community Outreach Officer (0.5 FTE, Maternity Leave Cover)

Salary: £19,989 plus 5% pension pro rata (18.75 hours per week)

Closing date: Friday 30th November 2012

Location: Location will be Barnstaple, but Cookworthy and Exeter will also be considered.

The Northern Devon Nature Improvement Area (NIA) is an exciting and prestigious project, which aims to create a thriving and flourishing landscape, teeming with wildlife and providing a range of socio-economic benefits to landowners and local people. The project is being delivered by the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Partnership, with Devon Wildlife Trust as the lead partner. It is one of only 12 NIA projects nationally, and was selected by Defra through a highly competitive process.

This post will be responsible for the design and delivery of a wide ranging and exciting programme of community based activities and events, alongside the development of education and interpretation resources. The postholder will work closely with other NIA staff at Barnstaple and Cookworthy.

We are seeking the appropriate skills and expertise to help the NIA partnership deliver and develop this area of work during a period of maternity cover. We would also be prepared to consider proposals for secondments and / or provision of these services through contract, as alternatives to a full time member of staff.

Location will be Barnstaple, but Cookworthy and Exeter will also be considered.
