The Morecambe Bay Limestones and Wetlands NIA is an exciting new partnership project.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic ecologist to work as part of a team of three, in conserving and grassland, wetland and woodland habitats in one of the most beautiful areas of England. Working closely with your team, you will focus on the restoration of grassland habitat delivering enhancement of core areas, priority habitat restoration and creating connectivity within the landscape.
As the successful candidate you will have good botanical skills, allowing you to survey and assess the condition of Grassland habitats within the Morecambe Bay NIA area. Your experience of practical habitat restoration will allow you to use this information to write detailed restoration/management plans for the site. Using your knowledge of the agri-environment system and your excellent inter-personal skills you will work closely with landowners and the Statutory Agency advisors to get this management plan written into grant schemes. In the final stage of the process you will oversee the delivery of any capital works arising from these agreements, from the hiring of contractors, to overseeing on-site works.
The specialist advisers form part of the NIA delivery team and are being managed by the Arnside and Silverdale AONB, the RSPB, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation, with support from Natural England and other partners.
