Living Seas Assistant – 6 month fixed term contract

Salary: £18000 p.a (pro rata)

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing environmental organisations and seeks to appoint a Living Seas Assistant in parnership with the European Fisheries fund, the Marine Management Organisation and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of investing in sustainable fisheries.

The Living Seas Assistant will assist in the delivery of YWT’s Living Seas awareness programme. These events set out to raise awareness of the North Sea marine environment and will, through the development of our new fisheries work, seek to investigate and promote the need for a healthy marine environment in order to support a healthy fishery. Daily operations focus on development and delivery of a core events programme aimed to inspire people to support the Trust’s vision for Living Seas. Activities will include Seashore Safaris, Living Seas Safaris (boat trips), Undersea Explorers, working with local fishing communities to develop our knowledge of the marine environment and working with volunteers in order to undertake survey, primarily shore based focussing on intertidal marine wildlife and litter.

The successful candidate will have experience of organising and delivering events and a sound understanding of the marine environment. They will have excellent IT and communication skills, a willingness to learn new skills as well as a full driving license.
