Living Landscape Manager (New Forest & Avon Valley)

Salary: Within salary band D £25,000 - £35,000 pa, starting usually below midpoint of grade, but depending on qualifications and experience; permanent position; full-time 35 hours per week

Location: Based at Testwood Lakes Centre, near Totton, Hampshire

Overseeing the conservation and education work in the Trust’s New Forest and Avon Valley Living Landscape area.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the leading local nature conservation charity and is one of the largest of the county-based Wildlife Trusts with a lively, dedicated and passionate team of 100 staff and 700 volunteers. As part of a new 5 year strategic plan, this new post will be responsible for overseeing the conservation and education work in the Trust’s New Forest and Avon Valley Living Landscape area.

Acting as the public face of the Trust in this significant area, the role demands an excellent understanding of ecological principles and sound professional judgement to establish credibility and garner support through partnerships and key stakeholders. The appointed person will manage a multi-function team, ensure the coordinated delivery of externally funded projects, help develop new initiatives, and oversee the management of Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve and Centre.

Advocacy and communication skills are pre-requisites to the success of this position. You must be able to demonstrate achievements in the conservation sector and demonstrate how you have balanced the needs of complex relationships to reach positive outcomes. You must be able to manage risks and to deploy resources effectively, working with diverse teams.
