Cheshire Wildlife Trust is offering an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of the Cheshire region Action on Invasives Project
The post holder will work with CWT staff and volunteers to raise awareness of invasive non-native species; lead the control of invasive non-native species along target watercourses and launch and deliver a local public campaign to improve the awareness of invasive non-native species issues amongst the gardening community.
The Invasive Species Officer will also be responsible for leading volunteer work parties carrying out practical tasks on a daily basis during the peak control season. They will be expected to carry out Himalayan Balsam and Japanese Knotweed control using appropriate methods.
They will have a track record of liaising with land owners and a wide variety of organisations; Working with and organising volunteer groups (including health and safety aspects) and experience of controlling invasive riparian species. They will need relevant qualifications or substantial experience of working within the environment sector.
The post will be based at Bickley Hall Farm, Bickley, Cheshire, SY14 8EF but you will be required to travel throughout Cheshire so a full driving license and access to a vehicle for business use is essential. This is a fixed term appointment of 15 months. Possible extension is subject to securing further funding.
