Education Centres Manager

Surrey Wildlife Trust is dedicated to protecting Surrey’s wildlife. Our Education Department delivers the vital role of teaching the young people of Surrey about nature and conservation. We are now seeking an inspirational Manager for our Education Centres to take forward our important work promoting wildlife education.

This is a full-time, core role within the Trust, and we are seeking a motivated individual who can lead our dedicated and experienced education team of staff and volunteers and continue to deliver the high quality courses that have secured our reputation for wildlife education. We have ambitious plans for our Education Centres, and expect to continue to grow our services across the County.

Educated to degree level, with a passion for wildlife and outdoor learning, you will be enthusiastic and engaging with excellent teaching and organisational skills. Ideally you will have experience of delivering natural science courses, managing a team, and setting and keeping to a budget. A track record of running an education facility or department, knowledge of environmental education techniques, or experience of GCSE or A-level fieldwork would all be an advantage. A full UK driving licence is necessary, and the post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.

The successful applicant will be energetic, organised, and committed to encouraging young people to actively engage with the natural environment and inspiring them about wildlife. This is a demanding but hugely rewarding job, where you can genuinely make a difference to children and their understanding of the natural world. The post is based at our main Educational Reserve, Nower Wood, near Leatherhead. We offer a competitive salary and pension scheme, the opportunity for further professional training, and a key role within a friendly and dedicated wildlife conservation team.
