Diffuse Pollution Officer - Living Waterways

Salary: Salary £22,000 per annum. Hours of work 37½ per week.

The Living Waterways Project has been operating since 2007 between the Environment Agency, Durham, Northumberland and Tees Valley Wildlife Trusts. The project aims to improve ecological status/potential on heavily modified urban WFD water bodies, manage flood risk on river bodies, improve biodiversity and riparian habitats and empower communities to improve their local green spaces.

We are looking for someone to provide regional coordination to the Living Waterways diffuse pollution activities within the project, and work with all key stakeholders to ensure the best environment improvements can be achieved.

We are looking for an individual who is educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline, with excellent communication, and report writing skills. They must have clear understanding of the Water Framework Directive and the issues associated with urban diffuse pollution, including its causes, impacts and social implications.

Successful candidate will be based at the DWT Head Quarters Rainton Meadows near Houghton-le-Spring.
