Salary: £17,500 - £19,500 depending on experience

A Conservation Officer is required for a period of 10 months to cover maternity leave. The role will be part time, with 3 days/week located at our main offices in Dingestow near Monmouth, and working as part of the Conservation Team focusing on the Trust’s planning casework, influencing local planning authorities and other decision makers, and our collaborative work to deliver Local Biodiversity Action Plans.
There is also the possibility of a 2 days/week secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave at a Local Authority Biodiversity Team in a very similar role, which would make this a full time post.
Applicants will need a degree or equivalent qualification and at least 2 years relevant experience, with a sound understanding of conservation priorities and legislation, good all-round wildlife knowledge and ideally experience of planning casework. Excellent letter and report writing skills, including the ability to logically present assessments and evaluations is also desired along with an enthusiasm for wildlife.
