CAN Project Officer x 2

Salary: £20 - 21.5k pa.

Closing date: Wednesday 10th October 2012

Location: Bristol

Job ref: CANPO

We have two vacancies in our BIG Lottery funded programme to improve the health, well-being and life chances of marginalised communities in the West of England region by engaging them with nature and local environment improvement projects.

The CAN Project Officers will create new ways for marginalised people and communities (especially young people, communities in areas with high indices of deprivation and people with mental health or learning disabilities) to experience the natural world and take part in local environmental improvement projects to benefit their health and well-being, life chances and sense of involvement in their community.  This will mean developing exciting and innovative projects which could range from organising events, walks and multi-media projects to developing tasks on wildlife sites in the local community.

Key to success of this programme is a community centred approach to developing projects and the scope and potential impact of this role is as broad as your creativity and ability to inspire people to get involved and support them to life changing experiences.

It is essential that you have experience in working with vulnerable and/or marginalised people in a training or mentoring role, preferably in a practical, outdoor scenario.  You will have a relevant qualification, ideally to degree level, and must hold a current driving licence as you will be expected to drive a minibus.  You will be organised and competent in Microsoft packages.  These posts are subject to a CRB check.
