With funding from Defra, the Avon Frome Partnership is leading a consortium of organisations which will produce a catchment management plan for the river Avon. The consortium will use existing data and evidence as well as the results of stakeholder feedback and field surveys to produce a plan that will shape the management of the river and its catchment, from source to the Severn.
We are seeking an experienced individual with a good knowledge of water catchment issues to manage the process and produce a catchment plan by Christmas 2012. you will be expected to assess existing, and gather new data, about the water quality and ecology of the Bristol Avon; assess existing policies that affect the management of the river corridor; identify and manage engagement with stakeholders, including the wider community, and produce a technical catchment management plan.
The consortium is willing to consider applications from consultants or potential secondees to deliver the work. Consultants could undertake this work on a self-employed basis, provided the consortium was satisfied the project will be delivered by the deadline of December 2012. Secondees would need to be released from their current employment and employed by Avon Wildlife Trust for the contract period. Terms and conditions for the post are dependent on the nature of the employment contract.
