Join Matt Gaw, nature writer and editor of Suffolk Wildlife magazine, on this full day creative writing course. Develop your writing skills and confidence in a supportive environment. The stunning landscape of Lackford Lakes will provide plenty of inspiration for your writing.

Course content

  • Nature writing, its history and the emergence of new nature writing.
  • The benefits of writing outside, tips on drawing inspiration from the world around you.
  • Free writing, keeping your pen moving, expansion of free writing using your own experience to make it more descriptive
  • The concept of editing
  • Publishers and how to revise and present your work to a professional standard.

Two outdoor sessions:
• a short sensory walk where you will write up your experience
• a longer walk where you will look for something new/unknown to research and write about

You will work on producing a 450 word piece of creative non fiction.

Please bring:
Notepad and pens/pencils
A laptop if you have one
A packed lunch
Stout shoes/walking boots for the outdoor sessions

Please wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions.

Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided throughout the day and are included in the price of the course.
