We know how challenging lockdown was earlier in the year, and that spending time in nature made a real difference to wellbeing during that time. However a lockdown in autumn and winter, when the weather is worse and it's potentially harder to get outdoors is likely to be even more challenging. A late-flowering plant, Autumn gentian displays pretty, mauve, tube-like flowers atop its reddish stems. It favours dry, chalk grassland and sand dune habitats.
