Honister Crag has some of the best mountain flowers in Lakeland and is the only easily accessible crag where the flowers can safely be enjoyed.
The walk reaches the crag by going through the Honister mine and makes use of the Via Ferrata. The walk is suited to those interested in learning about the mountain flowers of Lakeland – beginners are welcome. The walk is led by Peter Bullard of Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
The walk is being run in partnership with Honister Slate Mine who will provide hard hats, harnesses and safety guides. This is a strenuous walk on steep slopes and rocky terrain, suitable for those used to a day in the higher fells and requires a very good head for heights.
Walking boots, waterproofs, warm clothes (the crag can be cold even on warm days) and packed lunch are essential. The walk is weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice.
Booking is essential - places are limited. Book with Honister Slate Mines. or by calling 01768 777230. There will be a charge for this event.
