Event details

17 July 2013 - 10:00am - 3:00pm

The session aimed at beginners, will consist of a presentation in the morning, then a stroll around Magor Marsh Nature Reserve to learn more about bumblebees in the afternoon. The session will provide an introduction to bumblebee ecology and conservation as well as bumblebee identification in the field, including how to recognise some of the rarer bumblebees that occur on the Gwent Levels. It’s hoped that following the session attendees may be keen to help record bumblebees in their local patch, by participating in Bumblebee Conservation Trust’s Bee Walk Scheme. Tutor: Sinead Lynch from the Bumblee Bee Conservation Trust. This course is offered as part of GWTs Gwent Shrill Carder Bee Project.

BOOKING ESSENTIAL

Bring lunch and boots will be needed for the site walk.  Bring notebook, pen and hand lens if you have one.  Those allergic to bee stings please bring medication.

The session is weather dependant and may be cancelled if inclement weather is anticipated.
