Pulling Himalayan Balsam Pulling Himalayan Balsam

Event details

10 July 2013 - 9:30am - 4:00pm

One of a series of work parties this summer to try to eradicate this invasive plant and help water voles along Bourn Brook.

Volunteers get to go in the water with waders. Waders and instruction will be provided. Please bring your own packed lunch. If you prefer to meet at the work party site near Bourn please contact organiser for details.

Volunteers need to be physically able to get into the brook or walk along the bank, where there is generally no path. There may be steep banks, uneven surfaces and soft, silty riverbeds.

We're working with the Countryside Restoration Trust and Cambridge Conservation Volunteers to improve habitat and boost the water vole population on Bourn Brook. We'll be pulling Himalayan balsam the whole length of the brook over the summer  - and hope to eradicate it eventually.
