Join the Uplands for Juniper Project Officer for a walk over the Wainwright summits of Coniston Old Man and Brim Fell

On the way we’ll be looking for dwarf willow, a true tundra specialist which grows only in the Lake District in England. This walk will serve as a training walk for those wanting to carry out independent surveys later in the summer. We’ll also look at two sub-species of juniper and talk about the work of the Uplands for Juniper Project in encouraging more scrub and woodland in the Cumbrian uplands. The 5.5-mile walk takes in steep and rocky ground over much of its length. Total ascent is 600 metres. The walk may be shortened or cancelled due to bad weather so booking is essential.
