Event details

11 May 2013 - 9:00am - 5:00pm

Join GWT's CEO Tome Clarke and other members of the GWT team for the second of three long walks in 2013, connecting several reserves and designed to show the features of the Living Landscapes areas which GWT would like to see a focus of activities, to protect and reconnect some of the best habitats in Gwent. This one is a ten mile walk beginning at Solutia Reserve and following a linear route, taking in the beauty of the Severn Estuary and the rich landscape of the Gwent Levels, plus GWT’s most recently acquired reserve, Barecroft Common, before finishing at Magor Marsh, our oldest Reserve. From Solutia Reserve, the route will go via Nash and travel eastwards along the Sea Wall and the Wales Coastal Path, before moving inland across the Gwent Levels to Redwick. A series of tracks and short section of road then takes us to Barecroft Common, before finishing up with a well-deserved cup of tea at the Derek Upton Centre at Magor Marsh. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Walkers should bring lunch and drinks, and dress appropriately for the walk and weather. Participants should meet at Magor Marsh at 9am, to enable car sharing to Solutia for the beginning of the walk
