Langdale Conservation Blitz

30 April 2013 (All day) - 5 May 2013 (All day)

Event details

30 April 2013 (All day) - 5 May 2013 (All day)

Join us on the bog during a week of practical work to restore peat erosion caused by walkers and livestock.

Working in stunning surroundings, this will be a great chance to meet lots of lovely people and make a positive contribution to the future of the Lake District Fells. We will be trialling some new techniques for stopping erosion using locally sourced stone and turf. Lots of hands will be needed to move materials around the site and help build some simple structures. These workdays are organised jointly by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, the National Trust and Lake District National Park Authority. The terrain includes some steep rocky slopes and wet boggy ground with many small pools.
