One day course for adults to learn the craft of basket making with willow.
Make a traditional and attractive Celtic frame basket for fruit or egg gathering with Jane Jennifer, professional basketmaker, using English willow.
Jane started basketmaking in 2007 as informal apprentice to Sue Chapman of New Buckenham, Norfolk who worked as an english willow basketmaker for 27 years, having learned her trade from Ronnie Woods of (East)Dereham who wove for 60 years. Ronnie's family had been basketmakers for over 100 years. Jane feels extremely fortunate to have gained her knowledge from such a heritage.
Celtic frame baskets are made with a basic structure of rings and ribs made of willow, hazel or briar and woven with willow and various other hedgerow materials. Jane will come with pre-formed rings, ribs and much weaving material and you will spend the day learning how to turn these separate materials into Celtic frame baskets. You will go away with the knowledge of how to make more baskets if you wish to as well as with a (hopefully!) completed basket.
If you have your own secateurs do please bring them with you - as well as your patience, curiosity and sense of humour! Jane is looking forward to seeing you there.
Free tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day, but you will need to bring a packed lunch. There will be a £5 charge on the day for materials.

If you book online your course confirmation will be the receipt you receive from PayPal for your payment. If you book by telephone your course will be confirmed on the phone. If you book by post a confirmation letter or email will be sent to you as soon as possible.
Full details will be sent approximately two weeks before the date of the course.
If there are insufficient numbers to run the course, your payment will be refunded. If your course is overbooked we will contact you to arrange an alternative course or offer a full refund.
