Crabtree Ponds nature reserve
Event details
3 November 2012 - 10:30am - 12:30pm
Join Steve Clements and Ziggy Senkans from the Sorby Natural History Society, for a fascinating fungal foray.
Formerly a 19th century ornamental pond in the grounds of Crabtree Lodge, this local nature reserve in the heart of Burngreave is now home to a variety of wildlife, including numerous fish, birds, invertebrates, and fungi. 42 kinds of fungi have already been identified, including 6 different toadstools - join Ziggy and Steve from the Sorby Natural History Society to see what else can be discovered here, and in Little Roe Wood.
Meet at the big pond in Crabtree Ponds at 10.30am - main access to the Ponds is at the corner of Barnsley Road and Crabtree Close.
There are plenty of buses to Crabtree Ponds, which lies just off Barnsley Road (no. 97, 98, 47, 20, 20A). Parking on Norwood Road and side streets is limited, so Herries Road alongside the Northern General would probably be the best option.
