Event details
11 August 2012 - 9:00am
Support Devon’s marine wildlife by raising at least £50 and walking 23 miles along part of the Bideford to Foreland recommended Marine Conservation Zone out at sea.
Learn about the wildlife which lives there and why it is important to protect this stretch of coastline from damaging activities. This walk provides opportunities to spot grey seals and gannets out to sea and a variety of wildflowers on the cliff-top grassland and heathland, before descending to one of the largest sand dune systems in Britain at Braunton Burrows, home to an array of flowering plants, butterflies and birds. DWT staff and volunteers will be on the walk to help identify the wildlife on the way.
The 23 mile route starts at Ilfracombe and finishes in Braunton (option to take a shorter 10 mile challenge walk). £10 registration fee, then raise at least £50 sponsorship for yourself (or for your dog!) to take part.
Regular bus links at start, finish and mid-points of the walk.
