Event details

8 July 2012 - 10:00am - 1:00pm

As part of the Guildford Walkfest take an exciting guided walk across Ockham Common and Chatley Heath SSSI with Surrey Wildlife Trust Ranger Gemma Grant, to discover some of the exciting wildlife found on this rare heathland habitat. You will then have the opportunity to take a peek inside the Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower. The Semaphore Tower was built in 1822 and is now the only restored surviving tower in a line of signalling stations that stretched from London to Portsmouth. The tower not only provides an interesting insight into naval history but also offers some amazing views across the heath and beyond. Please note that dogs are not permitted inside the tower.
