This event is part of The Wildlife Trusts' Our Woodland Wildlife events, which are being held all across the UK this weekend.

Join Trust staff at Pamber Forest nature reserve to experience our rich woodland wildlife in all its splendour. Through a range of activities, explore and learn all about the wildlife you can see at this time of year – no previous experience necessary at this event for all ages.

Activities in the forest that you can book on
What can you do in woodland with fire, hazel and old syrup tin? You can make some artists charcoal! There will be an opportunity to do some whittling, cutting and then make some artists charcoal to take away. Finally learn to make a brew with a Kelly kettle.
There will be two sessions through the day 10.30am and 1.30pm, these will last about 1.5 hours.

Guided walks
Enjoy a guided walk around the forest. Bird song and spring flowers are a highlight at this time of year. See demonstrations of hazel hurdle making and try your hand at besom broom making and learn about the importance of traditional rural crafts in the history of Pamber Forest.

Morning and afternoon guided walks lasting between 1.5 to 2 hours. at 10.30am and 2pm. No need to book for guided walks. Minimum donation £3.

Course
Learn a new skill by booking on to the hazel hurdle making workshop that is being held on the day.

Directions

From Basingstoke take A340 towards Tadley at Pamber End just past Queen’s College Arms PH turn right towards Bramley, take next left to Little London and Silchester when you get to Silchester go over the bridge over the stream and up the rise, at top turn left opposite Byes Lane and take track down side of house called Rampiers carry on along track to end.
