28 March 2012 (All day)

Event details

28 March 2012 (All day)

This half day course is an opportunity to learn more about great crested newts and is designed as an introduction to their ecology, the legislation protecting them, how to manage their habitats and survey for them.

No previous experience is necessary. This course  is suitable for conservation workers and ecologists or anyone with an interest in great crested newts who would like to learn more.

The course will involve a  late afternoon classroom theory session and afterwards a night-time site visit to a local site to practice newt surveying techniques

A certificate of attendance will be awarded on completion of the course, but the course will not provide references for great crested newt licence applications.

Please bring food and a drink for the outdoor evening session. Alternatively there is a public house in Hempnall if you prefer to eat a hot meal.

Tea and coffee will be provided on the late afternoon session.

For the outdoor session please bring a torch and wear suitable warm and waterproof outdoor clothing, including wellingtons or waterproof boots.
