The Ulster Wildlife Trust is hosting an informal meeting with current leaders and those interested in setting up their own Wildlife Watch group on Saturday, 21st January, 11am at the Falls Park Pavillion to share experience and ideas.
Are you interested in setting up a Wildlife Watch group in your area?
Wildlife Watch groups are groups of young nature enthusiasts lead by adult volunteers. Groups get together on a monthly basis to take part in fun and practical wildlife inspired activities such as pond dipping, minibeast hunts, arts and crafts and environmental games.
At the moment we have 2 Wildlife Watch groups run by volunteers (Belfast and Lisburn) and 3 groups run by Trust staff, in conjunction with Belfast City Council, in local parks. But we would love to see more starting up.
Our current leaders have offered to get together with all who are interested in setting up and becoming leaders of groups in their own areas, so that we can share ideas and experiences which will help you to decide if you want to go forward in setting up new groups and work up a bit of a plan to help you get experience.
It will be a very informal chat and maybe a few crafty ideas, but we do hope that you can come along and meet us and see if running a Wildlife Watch group is for you.
Our current groups currently have their full complement of adult helpers, so are not looking for any additional helpers at this stage- as they end up with more adults than children attending.
