BTCV’s Big Green Weekend is a new event which encompasses BTCV Green Heroes and showcases their UK and international work. It is supported by Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
Victorian Woodland in Hull is a very prominent, publicly accessible green space adjacent to a main thoroughfare of the city. The event will follow a general theme of traditional environmental management skills and crafts, with a focus on the importance and significance of urban woodland and city based green spaces as a resource for recreation and education.
Practical activities will include litter picks, bulb planting, bug hotel creation and vegetation clearance. To partake in any of these practical tasks we require you to pre-register at our Humber field office first (please ring Ian Jakulis on 01482 620309). Family and children's activities will also be provided. A number of demonstrations and activities will showcase traditional woodland management; chainsaw carving, green wood-working and tree ID walks and a birds of prey display will also be on site.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will have a stand providing information on all things green - pop along and speak to Harriet, based at our Pearson Park Community Garden in Hull, on the day!
