Following the failure of the pilot badger culls in Gloucestershire and Somerset, The Wildlife Trusts are urging the Government to drop badger culling from its bovine TB eradication strategy.

We want to see the Government prioritise badger vaccination, alongside a comprehensive package of cattle measures: better biosecurity, stricter movement controls, improved TB testing and development of a cattle vaccine. The Wildlife Trusts are one of several groups and organisations already deploying one of the tools for tackling bTB – badger vaccination.
The Wildlife Trusts are very conscious of the hardship that bovine TB (bTB) causes in the farming community and the need to find the right mechanisms to control the disease but a badger cull is not the answer to tackling bovine TB - we need a different approach.
Ask David Cameron to ‘drop the cull’ before its too late.
