Guelder rose

Viburnum opulus

Height 6 m. Deciduous. Spreading shrub with few branches. Leaves are opposite with three to five lobes, smooth and hairless on upper surface, hairy beneath, 5-10 cm. Leaves turn red in autumn.

What habitats does it normally live in?

Europe to central Asia and north Africa. Hedgerows and woodland.

How does it reproduce or breed?

Dense heads of small, white, fertile flowers, surrounded by bigger, showy, sterile flowers, 15-20 mm across in June and July. Fruits are round, ripening to transparent in September to October, hanging in clusters.
