Glow-worm Walk in the Frays Valley LNR

Glow-wormGlow-worm

Event details

4 July 2018 - 9:00pm - 11:00pm

The main purpose of this walk is to count the glow- worms to monitor the effect of our efforts in January.  The numbers in the last few years have been low, but we hope that with improved conditions they will fare better, and that we will get a good show this year.  Everybody (including children) is welcome on this walk, and glow-worms are certainly a magical sight if you have never seen one before.  We will also have detectors to hear if there are any bats around.  It is quite a long walk (3 miles or so, up and down a gentle hill), and although we start in daylight, we have to wait until it is fully dark to see them glowing, so it will be a late finish and very dark on the way back.

What to bring
It may be chilly after dark, and it may be wet underfoot, so dress appropriately. Torches are useful to help you find your way back, but remember not to shine them in other peoples' faces, and they do not help to find glow-worms. There are toilets in the golf course at the top of the hill, but none on the site.
